“Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.”

Psalm 119:90
The hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” by Thomas Chisholm testifies of God’s presence in the often-mundane happenings of life. Sometimes we encounter miraculous acts of God where His power and might are made personal to us. But typically our lives feel rather ordinary as God shows His faithfulness in the humble events at home, in the workplace, and in our neighborhoods. Chisholm never held a high position in society, nor was he a renowned figure of his time. Yet he wrote 1,200 poems, one of which became the comforting, reassuring hymn that has been sung the world over for nearly a hundred years.
After several conversations with Christians during my Cuba visits, I could feel that my brothers and sisters there were profoundly thankful to God for His faithfulness. Even though we’ll never know each individual story of God’s mercy to the Cuban people, we know that His “faithfulness continues through all generations.” Along with fellow believers there and elsewhere, can you sing of the Lord’s great faithfulness to you?
