“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.”

Luke 12:22
Jesus’ words call us to recognize that life is about more than the basic necessities. His beautiful word pictures in the text about the birds of the air making no provision for their needs but being fed by God, and the lilies and grasses growing without self-effort are reminders of His care.
Presently, daily provision is not a consuming worry in my life. However, there was a time when it was. My husband had left the business world to enter ministry when we had three small children, a mortgage, and other financial demands. When a broken furnace or unexpected car repair popped up, I could plunge into anxiety.
But I found what I needed in Paul’s words to the Philippians: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (4:6-7). Living in that truth has resulted in seeing God’s faithfulness in tangible, practical ways.
