“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.”

Ephesians 2:19-20
God’s plan for marriage makes the home a place of blessing for the husband and wife, for their children, and for any who come into contact with them. Marriage is the foundation of all institutions in society. It was the very first structure that God wove into life with Adam and Eve; the two became as one. Organizations in government, economics, and education are built on the interdependent connectedness of humanity which finds its basic expression in marriage. The family home establishes a context for spiritual and intellectual growth, development of economic and social responsibility, and appreciation of living with different yet complimentary personalities.
The church, then, is an extended family, and we are His adopted children. God’s household provides a nurturing atmosphere which draws its members together. Psalm 68:6
tells us, “God sets the lonely in families,” whether blood- related or spiritually united. We can show the patterns of love that should govern all other relations as the Bible enters into real life.
