“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

Ephesians 6:10-11
Isaiah warns us of evil: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness” (Isaiah 5:20). We battle against giants that are enemies of the soul. The apostle Paul, writing from prison, referenced the armor of a soldier—perhaps the one who guarded him—to describe our need to be dressed for battle.
Paul wants us to be battle ready, putting on the whole armor of God, to defeat Satan in any attack. The armor of God is part of the foundation of our faith. Two items especially stand out: the “helmet of salvation,” protecting our brain since Satan will attack our minds; and the “sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” the most valuable possession we have.
Does the battle keep raging against you? Does it seem that you barely make it through one trial when another approaches? Does the evil of this world pursue you? Rest in the greatest comfort of all—that the truth, righteousness, peace, and salvation you need to put on have been worn for you by your Savior and champion, Jesus Christ!
