As a brand-new bird-feeding enthusiast, I don’t always know what I’m doing, When we occupied our current home last year, we inherited several feeders in the yard. I hate to see anything go unused, so I went to the bird-lovers’ shop to inquire about how to fill them. In no time, I began to delight in watching the birds eat my provisions! Now, in late fall, I find myself considering their cold-weather needs and wondering how our feathered friends will fare while we are gone over the holidays. Who knew I’d care?
It occurs to me that if I, formerly indifferent to birds, could come to care so much about their needs, how much more does my heavenly Father – the One who created me for His glory – provide for my needs? “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things” (Romans 8:32)? And Jesus taught us to ask, “Give us this day our daily bread.” How much more does He enjoy lavishing His daily grace on us and delight in watching us feed on it?
