"May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it."
(1 THESSALONIANS 5:23B-24)

1 Peter 1:3-9; Hebrews 3:1-6
A false gospel has appeared recently in some Protestant circles. It’s not new. It’s as old as Christianity itself. This spurious “gospel” claims that while faith brings you into a saving relationship with Christ, in order to maintain your salvation you must prove to be faithful. In other words, you must keep the law. While it is true that “the one who stands firm to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13), it is God who does the saving from first to last. We have a faithful Savior who says, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5c).

The Bible clearly teaches that we are elect according to God’s foreknowledge (1 Peter 1:1-2 for instance). Paul confirms this in Romans 8:29-30:”For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son… And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” If we are to be saved, it is only because Christ is our faithful Savior “and He will do it.”
