“[The Lord] wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.”

Psalm 104:2-3
While my daughter is away at college, she and I have found ways to stay connected across the miles. We share a love for sunsets, so when either of us is struck by a particularly beautiful one, we’ll quickly take a photo and send it to the other. My northern California sunset may show the dance of colors interacting with clouds. Her southern California sunset may picture beautiful orange hues playing on the purple hills that surround her. But our snapshots hardly do it justice!

Meteorological science could probably explain a sunset by talking of particulates, water vapor, and light waves. Yet nothing in that technical language would depict what a sunset is. It’s light, color, and shadows, all captured by the eye and interpreted by the brain. We are simply awestruck by its beauty. Even those who would consider themselves non-religious can’t help marveling at the Artist behind it all.

Sharing the Creator’s artistry with someone you love leaves you feeling rich beyond words. “How many are your works, O LORD!” (Psalm 104:24)
