“For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Acts 28:30-31
Often under Roman guard, Paul fearlessly lived out his salvation in Christ, proclaiming the name of Jesus. As followers of Christ today, we too have the privilege of making known the wonder of Jesus’ redeeming love for sinners like us. Regardless of circumstances, we can welcome others and teach about Jesus as Paul did.
In one of the churches I served in, there was a dear lady who was well into her 90s. She lived her faith before others, inviting ladies over for coffee often. Her apartment was adorned with Christian artwork, fresh flowers, and a well-worn Bible. Her friends knew she cared for them through her kindness and faithfulness in prayer on their behalf.
The simple truth is that it’s all about Jesus. Oh, that God would give us the boldness and straightforwardness to share Him in whatever ways we can. It may involve welcoming others into our homes; it may mean meeting them where they are. For Paul, the torch of the gospel spread from the Jews to the Gentiles and ultimately to the entire world, even to you and to me.
