Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6:34
Most nights, my mind—focusing on my weakness and inability—races with thoughts of the previous day’s challenges and worries for what is ahead. But as I get ready for my day each new morning, thanks to my daughter I see a note card near my sink with Matthew 6:34 printed on it. That verse and Philippians 4:6 remind me to bring my anxieties and fears for the day to the Lord. He knows better than I His plans for the matters that caused my worry during the late night hours. He cares about the details of my life. As I turn my burdens over to Him, I am better able to trust His plan for my day.
It’s hard not to look anxiously ahead. Thankfully, we can look to the promises we have of a life one day in perfect communion with Jesus. There will be no more pain, no more tears, no more anxieties, no more disappointments (see Revelation 21:4). Our God walks along with us through today’s troubles but also offers us true and lasting hope for eternity when this life is over. Where else could you or I find greater comfort than that?
