"When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, 'Will you give me a drink?'"
(JOHN 4:7)

John 4:1-26
If we are going to follow our Master’s example in reaching others with the Good News, what are some practical ways we can befriend those who don’t know Him? Missionaries often serve communities through providing medical care, education, sports programs, etc. I know one missionary to Eastern Europe who used his engineering background to help revitalize a city park as a way to build relationships in the community. God can and does use our unique abilities to advance His kingdom.

At home we also have service opportunities. Amy and I have taught several evangelistic courses at our church which led to opportunities to share the Gospel with inquiring neighbors. Many of our neighbors do not attend church, but we can take the message of salvation to them.

Befriending “sinners” is also being a good neighbor. If you can bake or cook, then share something delicious over the fence. Make conversation. Listen. Ask for or offer help with a small project. We honor the Lord when we love and appreciate people as He did.
