"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."
(HEBREWS 8:12)

Hebrews 8
I heard an interview with someone famous who said, “I keep a journal in my desk of every single person who has ever wronged me. Every slight, every insult, every rejection. This way I can look back on them and remember who is on my side.”

Isn’t that unsettling? If I remembered every slight against me and cut those people out of my life, I’d have nobody left! Nor would I be in anyone’s life with all the mistakes I’ve made. For some reason, people like to keep tabs and hold grudges.

Praise God our loving heavenly Father does not operate that way. In fact, His gift to us is His own bad memory. Think about how difficult it is to rebuild a relationship with someone you’ve wronged. You feel like you have to start all over. But God tells us that He holds no grudges. Keeps no lists (see 1 Corinthians 13:5b). If we are in Christ, God looks at His perfect Son, and goes blank on our sins. He doesn’t remember them! Knowing this, we can run into His presence with great confidence and with a clean slate in Christ.
