"... we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body."
(PHILIPPIANS 3:20B-21)

1 John 3:1-3
I have a younger Christian friend whose mother passed away a few years ago. I knew her mom and have photos and memories of her. It had been awhile since I’d seen my younger friend, so when we met again recently, I was struck by how much she’d grown to resemble her mother – her features, her smile and even her godly character.

I want nothing more in life than to bear the resemblance of my Lord Jesus, and I despair when I don’t see His likeness in me. I long for the promise in 1 John 3:2 that tells me, “Now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” I wonder, how will I ever be like Him? Then I remember that it is Jesus Himself who has the power to transform us to be like Him. When we are born again, we are infused with His spiritual DNA so – like my friend – the family resemblance WILL emerge! And the more we grow to love Him and see Him as He is, the more we desire to look to Him and be like Him.
