“In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.”

John 1:4-5
Yesterday, the Christmas tree glittered with tinsel and twinkling lights. It stood straight and tall surrounded by wrapped packages. Today it tips slightly to the left while gifts wait to be put away and trash needs to go out to the dumpster. I went to bed last night, head buzzing from much food, much fun, and much stimulation of the day. Just like that, Christmas is over! Strains of Joy to the World, and Silent Night flowed through my brain as I drifted off. Then this morning, the radio blasted out a Broadway show tune while my coffee brewed. Quite a change from the day before.
It may be difficult to shift from the richness of Advent and Christmas back to the routine of life. But the adventure continues. His light still shines, its glow reminding us that Christ came to an imperfect world to show us His way. Truly, it is all about Jesus who brought God’s message to people living in darkness.
I’m grateful for the light of His presence in my life. As we head toward January, let’s continue to bask in His glow.
