"For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the
light of the knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Christ."
(2 CORINTHIANS 4:6)

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Every one of us has known troubling times. Because evil has tainted this world since almost the beginning of time, it is not uncommon for people to find themselves in dark places. We all live in dark days marked by sicknesses, addictions, strife in relationships, wars, and economic despair. However, as Christians we are not overcome. God, choosing to make His power known, opens our eyes so that we can know the Light of the World, Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Before He left this earth, He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you…Do not let your hearts be troubled…” (John 14:27). Jesus’ peace conquers our troubles and heartaches. Sin and death do not have a legitimate claim on us. When people ask me how I remain peaceful through life’s trials, I tell them about Jesus Christ and the light He gives in the midst of darkness. I remind myself and them that “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).
