"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men - the testimony given in its proper time."
(1 TIMOTHY2:5-6)

Romans 5:1-11
In 1938, Adolf Hitler demanded that a section of Czechoslovakia should be given to Germany because the area was home to nearly 3 million people with German blood. He had already annexed Austria for the same reason. Most of Europe feared war was near.

At the last minute, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Germany met in a summit to broker peace. Without consulting the Czechs, they gave the area to Germany by signing the Munich Agreement. So much for fair mediation!

The peace was short-lived. Hitler invaded all of Czechoslovakia and then Poland in September. World War II had begun. So much for mediation and appeasement!

The Bible says there is one mediator between God and humanity. God demanded justice; our sin demanded punishment. Both parties needed a representative. This is why our mediator had to be truly God and truly human. Jesus took our human punishment and eternally absorbed it as only God could do. Through faith we are justified, bringing “peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans5:1).
