“I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.”

2 Corinthians 11:2
Most couples have great expectations about their wedding day. They plan, save, and coordinate for a memorable ceremony in beautiful surroundings with amazing food. As marriage mentors, my husband and I encourage couples to look beyond the wedding day by giving them some tools which are helpful to build a thriving marriage. Only God can bind the couple together in His love, but they must be ready to love and respect each other if they expect their marriage to last a lifetime.
The reading today describes another great wedding feast available for all of us to anticipate. As believers, we look forward to the day of Christ’s return, and we eagerly await eternity with Him. Only God is able to do the work of salvation for us, but we can live in gratitude and obedience in the meantime.
The Lord is preparing a wedding feast for His bride, the church, and it’s beyond any wedding dinner we’ve ever enjoyed. Let’s be preparing for that great day with expectancy for Christ’s return, our eyes fixed on Him in love and trusting obedience.
